What Is Tellington Touch?

Tellington Touch (TTouch) is a positive and supportive way of working with animals to help bring them into focus and balance. It combines a unique form of light touches all over the body with specific movement exercises. It is a gentle and noninvasive way to work with training and caring for your animal friend. When we are out of balance we overreact, develop illness, don't perform well and generally have a negative perspective of the world. Through a combination of bodywork and groundwork the TTouch practitioner invites the animal to relax, accept change , rebalance and focus.

TTouch was originally developed by Linda Tellington-Jones based on the Feldenkrais Method for humans. Linda, an accomplished horsewoman, knew the method would be invaluable for horses. The first methods were developed for horses (TTeam) however today there are TTouch programs for all types of animals including humans. Now in its 31st year, Linda has become an internationally reknown trainer, teacher and author who travels over 300 days/year around the world presenting the Tellington Touch method. Her 13 books on the topic are in 12 languages.

How Can it Help Me?

Have you ever grappled with any of these issues with your animal friend?

  • Leash pulling
  • "aggressive" behavior
  • Issues at the groomer
  • Separation anxiety
  • Fear of riding in the car (getting carsick)
  • Recovery from surgery or illness
  • Constant barking
  • Chewing/household destruction
  • Excessive shyness/fear
  • Thunderstorm phobia
  • Jumping up
  • Getting over-excited and stressed out
  • Issues with aging
  • Lethargy
  • Performance anxiety

Tellington Touch can address these issues and others by increasing the well being and stability of our animals. It is used around the world by veterinarians, shelter workers, rescue groups, zoo workers, groomers, dog trainers and wildlife rehabilitators . It is easily taught to the owner of the animal so they can participate and continue the exercises and touches. Because of this the quality of the relationship between human and animal deepens as well as their quality of life. The Tellington Method provides the opportunity for people to deepen the bond they have with their animal friends by reducing stress and building confidence for everyone. It's based on understanding and respect no matter what level or degree of an issue. It breaks things down into workable steps which helps the body develop increased awareness and optimal learning.
